I like watching cartoons and movies of all kinds.I also enjoy very much listening to music of genres such as electronic, classical and rock.Sometimes I read books that are classics or trendy. My favorite sports are tennis, soccer and swimming.I took tennis and swimming lessons for a few years but nothing too serious.I also like out sports like camping and outdoor vacations.I like learning about new sports, especially whatever sports are popular in your country.I always took care of children, even my own brother and most of my cousins, ever since they were born.At this time I am already gathering more than the minimum hours required by the program.

Letter to family:

Dear Host Family: When I learned about this program I have to say that I just loved it! It really sounds like a unique experience where you can learn the language while taking care of children, which is also an honor. They will be like my younger brothers and more than that, a serious job, my duty and responsibility. I am very confident in my principles and personality and, I will not disappoint you. I always took care of children, even my own brother and most of my cousins, ever since they were born. I was the oldest one of the cousins, and unlike the U.S., we all live close in Paraguay, not far from each other since distances are not a problem here. So, I always had the opportunity of taking care of them since I loved doing that anyways. By doing this, I gained experience of small tasks such as learning how to prepare their milk for the babies, how to feed them how to handle the bottle, teach them how to use the spoon or a fork, how to bathe them, putting a baby to bed, burping a baby, preparing baby food, dealing with tantrums, changing a diaper, caring for a colicky baby, playing with involving a baby in age appropriate activities, and assisting them with “homework” assignments in general. I also have experience with children with some mental and physical disabilities. I have experience with household duties too; I do all types of cleaning such as washing clothing and the baby bottle (my specialty). I’m very organized, so I like having the rooms in order, including toys. At this time I am already gathering more than the minimum hours required by the program. I will keep learning and gaining experience as I wait for my host family. It is really great to see how I gain more knowledge and experience. The more I handle and care for children every day at the kindergarten where I learned many important things. One example is the importance of feeding them at set times, nap times, little secrets and techniques as well as several kind of games options to play with them. I don't have any problems in keeping children as busy as possible, always with some activity, to keep them active. I also worked at a children's home specialized as an adoptions center which I believe counts as an interesting experience for me because I had two kids with mental and physical disabilities. I learned the particularities of taking care of them, how to feed them and how they were different from the rest. One of them had a cleft lip and I had special care of him, I played with him and I helped him to walk, that boy was very sweet. Next week, I'll be doing my internship at the home of a friend of my mom’s, where I'll be the nanny for her twins, then I'll be practicing for be an Au Pair until you call me! I have to be honest; I'm very anxious to go, meet “my” children and understand we can all live together day by day as a family, learning from each other, exchanging our cultures and having an experience that will have a lot of meaning in our lives. I hope to hear from you soon. Warmest Regards, Becca.
